Traveling is important, never stop exploring, I know I won’t. Here are some photos from my trip to Europe in 2007. I backpacked for five weeks. I just received the newest Time magazine in the mail and to my surprise, it featured their annual The World’s Most Influential People article. Fashion designer Stella McCartney (written by Gwyneth Paltrow) was one of the many wonderful people picked, along with Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Rafael Nadal, Tiger Woods, George Clooney, Kate Winslet, Tom Hanks, Zac Efron, Tina Fey, John Legend, The View, Brad Pitt, The Twitter Guys and so many more. Who are you? Does what you do define who you are or is it who you are that defines what you do? An artist presents his hard work, color palette and each tired hand wipe on his shirt and pants. He lets the paint stain his clothing.

I believe in beauty 2, by Felicia Atanasiu
While browsing through Juxtapoz, I found this remarkable illustration (much like the style I’m learning in fashion illustration.) The artist, Felicia Atanasiu instantly stimulated my mind with idea’s and inspiration. I am left feeling mused by her work. I don’t know if I want to draw or go shopping. Either way, this picture is fabulous and the name is perfect. Beauty is important at Streetfancy.com. Celebrating individuality, being yourself and expressing it, is very beautiful. All my OUTandABOUT people are beautiful and today, I want to just say thanks to all of them (and the many more to come) for contributing their beauty to this site.
Thursday, Feb. 26, Emporio Armani impressed everyone with the Fall 2009 collection “A New Lightness” in Milan.
Dresses and skirts ended half way up the thigh, and were mostly paired with knee high socks and a wedge shoe (LOVE IT!). The wedges were very structured with lots of zips, a big trend for Fall 2009.
The collection had a very feminine approach with ruffles that ran from shoulder to knee or all the way around the neck. Armani also uses tailored cuts very carefully with subdued tones of black, navy blue, cream and gray.
With our economic decline, Armani has encapsulated the mood of the country. The cuts seem slightly derivative of “dressing for success” and the colors are a definite statement of that. The name “A New Lightness” is palpable, sending an optimistic message. To see the full collection click here.
